ICYMI: Angelica Teixeira to Retire After 2025 Bikini International

Two-time Bikini Olympia champion and two-time Bikini International winner Angelica Teixeira intends to retire from competition after this year’s Bikini International. This contest is a part of the Arnold Classic, held from Feb. 28 through March 1, in Columbus, OH.

Teixeira made her retirement plan known in an Instagram post, which can be seen below:

Teixeira said this decision was made “a while ago.” If she does indeed retire after the 2025 Arnold Classic, it will cap a career that spanned a decade and included a handful of high-profile titles.

Career Retrospective

Teixeira turned pro in 2015 and immediately qualified for that year’s Bikini Olympia by winning the Naples Pro. She finished the Olympia in 16th place.

Teixeira’s star rose when she won the Pittsburgh Pro and New York Pro the following year. She also placed second at that year’s Olympia, behind champion Courtney King.

Many fans became aware of Teixeira thanks to her appearance on the Generation Iron series “East Coast Mecca” in early 2017. That season, she won her first Arnold and Olympia championships. She repeated the feat in 2018, adding the Arnold Classic Australia title as well.

Teixeira competed at the Olympia in 2019 but placed third behind champion Elisa Pecini and runner-up Janet Layug.

Teixeira’s most recent win came in 2020 at the Battle of Texas Pro. She returned to the Olympia stage that year to a fifth-place rank behind champion Layug. Teixeira took a sabbatical thereafter to start a family.

After three years away from the stage and becoming a mother of two, Teixeira returned to competition at the 2024 Bikini International and placed fourth behind champion Lauralie Chapados. Teixeira made what appears to be her final Olympia appearance later that season, finishing in 10th place.

If Teixeira does not win the 2025 Bikini International, she will end her career with 12 pro wins. The winner of the Bikini International will qualify for the 2025 Bikini Olympia. Teixeira emphasized in her statement that her intention was to finish her career on the Arnold Classic stage.
